Manas K Mandal, PhD, FNAPsy
Dr. Manas K Mandal is currently serving as Distinguished Visiting Professor at Indian Institute of Technology - Kharagpur. He was formerly a Distinguished Scientist and Director-General - Life sciences in DRDO [2013-2016]. Prior to this, he was Chief Controller R&D (Life Sciences), DRDO. He was also the Director, Defense Institute of Psychological Research for about nine years. He holds a Ph.D. degree from Calcutta University and started his career as a Lecturer at Banaras Hindu University in 1983. Dr. Mandal completed his post-doctoral research at Delaware University as Fulbright Fellow, USA in 1986-87, and at Waterloo University as an International Scientific Exchange Awardee, Canada in 1993-94. Dr. Mandal was a Professor of Psychology at the Department of HSS, IIT-Kharagpur, prior to joining DRDO in 2004. He was also a Visiting Professor at Kyushu University in Japan in 1997 & 2010-11. During 2003, he was a Fulbright Visiting Lecturer at Harvard University, USA. Dr. Mandal received various research fellowships and awards at national & international levels, such as, Indo-Canadian Shastri fellowship; Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council of Canada award; Fulbright fellowship, USA; Seymour Kety award, USA; Career Award, U.G.C.; Young Scientist Award, ISCA; National Association of Medical Sciences Award; DRDO Spin-off Technology Award, etc. In 2005, Dr. Mandal and his team were given away 'Agni Award for Excellence in self-reliance' for the contribution towards the development of 'Computerized Pilot Selection System' for Air Force. For his overall contribution to psychological sciences, he was elected as the Fellow of National Association of Psychology in India in 2012; and for his contribution to Military Psychology, he was given away the 'Scientist of the Year' award by the Prime Minister of India in 2006 (DRDO). Dr. Mandal specializes in the areas of Neuropsychology and Cognitive Sciences. He has to his credit 12 books, over 88 research papers in international and 20 national journals of high impact factors. These researches are cited in more than 300 international journals and books with over 2000 citations.
A post graduate in Economics, from the top ranking University of Warwick (United Kingdom), with a passion for Consumer Behaviour Understanding, Abhinay has been an instrumental force in driving the vision of the Data Sciences division of the Dentsu Aegis Network in South Asia as one of its founding employees. In his 4 years in the industry, he has risen from being a young manager with Carat (the media flagship agency of Dentsu) to Director – South Asia of its Data Sciences division. He has won numerous industry awards recognizing top talent in the region such as the Impact Top 30 Under 30, the Social Samosa Top 30 under 30, Leaders of Tomorrow and was even featured in the 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 list. He was also Asia’s sole nominee for New talent in UK’s prestigious DataIQ Awards in 2018. He is an active member of the advertising and media industry in India and is on the Board of the Young Professionals Program of the Indian chapter of the International Advertising Association. When he isn’t at work, Abhinay drives his passion for creating a more inclusive society as a part of his role as Founder-Member in the Youth Council of Kindness Unlimited – India’s apex body for Kindness.

Dr. Gururaj Rao was born in India and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Mysore. He then received an M.S. from the Indian Institute of Science before going to the U.S. for a Ph.D. from Stanford. He taught electrical engineering at Rice University before joining IBM in 1978. He quickly distinguished himself as a superior engineer, with a mind capable of grasping the design pathways most likely to lead to long-term competitive advantages. Dr. Rao has led the architecture, design, and development of several industry-leading functions in the IBM mainframe systems, including dynamic branch prediction, high-performance processor design, data compression, enterprise addressing architecture, and shared data cluster architecture. As Systems Chief Engineer, IBM Systems & Technology Group, was responsible for establishing the technical direction for IBM’s enterprise systems. As part of his role, he led an inter-divisional team of hardware, software, and research engineers. Working with enterprise customers and IBM’s client-facing units, he determines business and customer needs and drives the design of IBM’s enterprise systems to meet those needs. For these major contributions, Dr. Rao was appointed an IBM Fellow in 1999, the highest honor awarded to an IBM technical contributor, and in 2008, he was named Asian American Engineer of the Year. A few years ago, Dr. Rao was asked to extend his technology expertise of working with Enterprise clients to build an Ecosystem of Technical Partners who will develop solutions using IBM's Enterprise Technology. Currently as an IBM Fellow & Ecosystem Executive, he works with Global Systems Integrators, and Clients as well as IBM Business Units for this Solution Integration role
